Dear Stratford Upon Avon District Leaders and supporters,
As you know the District has been without a District Commissioner since Mike Hayward stepped down a couple of years ago and I have been covering in an acting capacity. Thank you for bearing with me during this time.
I am delighted to announce that Glyn Slade has agreed to take on the DC position. This will be a new name to many of you as he has not been involved in Scouting within Stratford Upon Avon District previously. He was a member as a young person and adult in Birmingham.
Glyn writes
Hello Everyone
I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to have been offered the position of District Commissioner and to be given the opportunity to support you all in providing the best possible experience of Scouting to all your young people going forwards.
Being a Cub, a Scout and a Venture Scout as a young boy growing up in Birmingham gave me superb opportunities to experience a range of activities and learn a number of skills and I have many lovely memories of that time. As a (slightly) older adult now with children and grandchildren of my own I am now in a position to be able to add my skills and experience, many of which are relevant to the role, to the District team and make a positive contribution.
I make no promises to fix all your issues and concerns should you have any, and indeed it will take a short while for me to get up to speed to get into a position to construct the next development and strategic plans. I can promise you my effort, enthusiasm, and total support in achieving the aims of Scouting to the best of our ability. All I ask from you is that you communicate effectively and openly so that I can help you as best I can, especially as we return from lockdown to face to face meetings.
I look forward to meeting you all over Zoom, in person and hopefully at your units in the near future.

I am sure that you will welcome Glyn to his new role, and I am certainly looking forward to having him as part of the County Team.
Best wishes
Nigel
