Volunteering Roles

Volunteer with Scouts as a Leader

Be a Team player? Love supporting young people. Great at planning?

Most of our volunteers work directly with young people aged 6-18 through our Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer groups, known as sections – helping young people gain skills for life through activities and adventures.

Volunteer as a Trustee

Trustees look after the governance of Scouting and support leaders with administration and financial support. No job is too small for a Trustee.

Volunteer as a Communicator

To communicate both internally and with the general public using the latest and established communication skills. The includes Social Media, Web site contents, and Established Media.

Volunteers as an Occasional Helper

Scout Active Support is a way to help scouting without the commitment of a regular meeting. You can help occasionally or on a specific project.

No previous experience with young people?

No problem. Whether you'd like to help week-after-week or whenever-you-can, we provide training, learning opportunities and cups of tea – every step of the way.

Being a volunteer has changed me quite drastically. I never thought I'd be able to lead children in activities. I didn't have the capability or confidence. Now I do.

Chris, Section Leader, Manchester

Volunteering Statistics

We currently have far greater demand for Scouting in Stratford-upon-Avon District that we can currently supply.

We desperately need to open new sections and we need adult volunteers to make that happen.

96% of Scout volunteers would strongly encourage family, friends, and co-workers to volunteer with Scouts.

Volunteers believe their time invested with the scouts helps them to be

  • a better person (90%)
  • a better parent (88%)
  • a better manager (73%
  • a better employee (66%)
